If you’ve followed along with my little mini saga of my damaged mobility scooter from my recent trip to Maine, then you may be wondering how did this all resolve?
Well I’m happy to say, it resolved quite well thanks to excellent customer service by Global Repair Group, which is a subcontractor American Airlines uses for claims like this. Not once did I have to step in and advocate for myself. The cynic in me thought for sure, I would’ve had to battle over the major damage inflicted on my EV Transport scooter.
This tried-and-true, foldable, mobility scooter had been on many trips with me. Sadly, the trip to Maine was its last go. But this story has a happy ending as Global Repair Group offered to let me choose a new replacement scooter.
If you’ve seen my YouTube video (and please subscribe to my fledgling YouTube channel) you know I chose the Pride Go Go Super Portable mobility scooter as my next travel companion.
I put a lot of research into this decision and had it down to this scooter and the Golden Technologies Buzzaround Carry-On. I anguished over which to go with and put a lot of research and comparisons into these two.

Why I chose the Pride Go Go Super Portable scooter

For me, the two biggest factors were portability and turning radius. Since I travel a lot and take my scooter on day trips too, being able to load the scooter into any vehicle is extremely important.
This scooter only weighs 41.6 pounds without the battery and folds up (manually) in just a couple of steps. In this regard it matched my previous scooter and was actually a little bit lighter.
Once folded, it can stand upright. This clever design makes loading into a vehicle much easier, especially for users who may struggle with lifting heavier equipment (like me). The total folded depth is only 12 inches, meaning it can fit into the trunks of most vehicles.
Since I go on a lot of cruises, maneuverability and turning radius were also important. The Super Portable has a turning radius of 51.6 inches. My next cruise isn’t until January 2026, but I am already looking forward to how this will perform in those tight hallways and crowded elevators.

What is the battery like for the Pride Go Go Super Portable?

Battery life is also important. Who wants “range anxiety” when you’re on vacation? I sure don’t. This scooter has a range of around 10 miles which is a little less than my old scooter, but it’s the battery that helped make this decision okay. Or, more specifically the battery charging.
The battery is ultra-light. Whereas the battery in my last scooter was big and bulky (lead acid) the airline compliant Lithium battery is easy to remove and can be easily stored. But what is the biggest standout feature is the Charge360 magnetic charging system. Instead of fumbling with a traditional three-prong charging plug, the charger connects magnetically and can attach from any direction. This seemingly small enhancement can make a significant difference for users with reduced hand dexterity or arthritis.

Able Travels take

For people with any kind of limited mobility, scooters can be a path to freedom. They make day trips to the zoo more enjoyable and make a cruise vacation possible. So losing that part of my life was worrisome. Accidents happen. Airlines are usually careful with these devices. One thing that pleasantly surprised me the most is how easy this was to resolve.
And I’m certainly happy with my choice for my new “ride.” The Pride Go Go Super Portable seems like the right choice for me. I chose the orange color to stand out, but also it’s the color of my favorite team, the Cincinnati Bengals. Now I will need to deck it out some Bengal gear somehow.
